Literacy Intervention
For students at risk of or diagnosed with Specific Learning Disorders in Reading, Spelling and Writing (otherwise known as ‘Dyslexia’ and ‘Dysgraphia’).
Jessica is a registered Occupational Therapist with eight years of clinical experience and 16 years of experience as a literacy and academic tutor. She has specialist training in structured literacy, including Sounds-Write (core training + Year 3–6 Extension) and IMSLE (5-day training). She also holds a Bachelor of International Studies (majoring in language), a Master of Occupational Therapy, and a Certificate in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL), supporting her expertise in handwriting development, literacy instruction, and cognitive-linguistic interventions.
Jessica is a registered specialist with SPELD QLD and has a particular interest in supporting students with dyslexia, dysgraphia, and related learning differences. She is deeply committed to understanding the role of executive functioning in writing development and prioritises managing cognitive load to ensure learning is both efficient and sustainable.
Jessica is passionate about research and ensures her sessions uphold high-quality evidence-based standards. She is constantly reading and staying up to date with the latest literacy research, connecting with local teachers and advocating for early intervention in schools.
